We arrived in Allen, TX (about 20 miles northwest of Dallas, where the Bernier Family lives) in 3 1/2 hours.  Before we stopped at the hotel, we headed right to Southfork Ranch, where the TV show Dallas was filmed (exterior shots).  Rich and I were soooo excited!  My heart was beating so fast when we pulled up.

Here's the lowdown:  The "museum" was a joke...nothing.  The house looks exactly like it did on TV...exactly.  They even had yellow and white awnings.  The surrounding ranch is only 200 acres, as compared to the 100,000 on the show (CGI).  The driveway was shorter, as was the pool.  Nothing inside the house was the same, it was even a different floor plan.  All interior shots were filmed in L.A. studios.

After checking in at the hotel, we headed over to Barbie's for dinner.  Her house is beautiful.  They had a pool and a computer, so all the kids were entertained.  Bobby and Hunter got along great, as did Audrey and Brooke.

The adults had cocktails and caught up.  We had a wonderful dinner, but probably overstayed our welcome...left at 11 p.m.

Out hotel was a brand new Courtyard, in the middle of a sleek retail/restaurant compound.  It was more like a full service Marriott.  Very nice.  The rooms, connecting, were huge, with a mini kitchen.  Sweet.  Little snafu at check-in, but the end result was worth it.
